Artistic Fraud premieres their latest stage work, I Forgive You, a collaboration with Scott Jones telling the story of the 2013 attack that left Jones paralyzed -and the moment during the attempted murder trial when he forgave his attacker- featuring choral music from Sigur Rós.

On October 12, 2013, choral director Scott Jones was walking home from an evening out in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, when he was grabbed from behind and stabbed in the back. The attack left Scott paralyzed from the waist down. In the months following, the story garnered international attention, not only for its brutality, but also for Scott’s uncommonly early decision to publicly forgive his attacker from the stand during the attempted murder trial.

Artistic Fraud’s newest show I Forgive You tells Scott’s story– in his own words– and examines his complicated and necessary relationship with forgiveness. It is a story of violence and grace, trauma and privilege, and the bends in the path that determine the people we become.

Scott will be present onstage for the telling of his story, all the while conducting a children’s choir. They will be singing choral adaptations of the music of legendary Icelandic band Sigur Rós. The company is thrilled to have received the band’s blessing to commission the choral scores from their friend and colleague Ingi Garðar Erlendsson, a Reykjavik-based musician, composer, and choral director.
