Åland musician leoblu wraps us in velvety dream pop at the Stage-in-the-Park, while The Cliks frontman Lucas Silveira intertwines piano and guitar soundscapes as the first transgender man signed to a major record label.
Part of Harbourfront Centre’s Summer Music Concerts.
leoblu is the solo project of singer, songwriter and producer Julia Carlsson. Originally from the Åland Islands, Carlsson resides in Berlin, Germany, and describes her influences as “dusty streets and deep oceans.” Inspired by dark pop, bombastically minimalistic soundscapes and melancholic harmonies, she delivers her deepest thoughts wrapped in velvety dream pop.
After gaining global momentum with her song “Still Dancing,” which was featured as the soundtrack to the Netflix series The Protector, leoblu has performed on indie festival stages worldwide, from Stockholm to Taipei from Madrid to Buenos Aires.
In 2022, leoblu will release her new EP Blue Rain – a self-produced body of work that mixes her childhood’s folk-influenced guitar with multilayered harmonies and a vulnerable sense of newfound freedom.
