Ánnámáret

Ánnámáret belongs to the Arctic Indigenous Sámi people. She combines Sámi vocal music, joik to ancient sound of Finnish bowed lyre, jouhikko played by Ilkka Heinonen and organic live electronics played by Turkka Inkilä. The music gains influence from both the rich tradition of joik and the vibrant Sámi culture and Arctic nature, by taking to strongly experiential worlds by means of music and images.

AySay

Luna Ersahin was born into a life of two cultures. With a Danish mother and a Kurdish/Turkish father, in her voice, a tale of the totality of two halves, is told. Being the centerpiece of the trio AySay, the same story translates into a soundscape where traditions from both east and west melt together.

Helsinki-Cotonou Ensemble

Helsinki-Cotonou Ensemble emerged when Finnish guitarist Janne Halonen traveled to Benin, West Africa, to study the rhythms of Voodoo. He became friends with a master percussionist/singer, Noël Saïzonou, and the idea of a band planted. For three years Halonen and Saïzonou bounced ideas and searched for the right people for their project. When Saïzonou visited Finland in 2011, drummer Juha Räsänen and bassist Sampo Riskilä joined the project. The quartet became the core of HCE.
